How emergency detection works

During every daily call, AvenoraCall's AI analyzes your parent's words in real time. It listens for specific phrases and language patterns that could indicate a medical emergency, a safety issue, or a concerning change in wellbeing. When something is detected, you are alerted immediately.

This works in all 15 supported languages — the AI understands concerning phrases in Spanish, Mandarin, Hindi, and every other language we support, not just English.

Two levels of alerts

Immediate alerts

Triggered the moment a concerning phrase is detected. You are notified within minutes.

What you receive when an alert is triggered

SMS alert

An immediate text message with the concerning phrase your parent used and brief context from the conversation.

Email with full context

A detailed email with the complete call summary, the specific phrases that triggered the alert, and what your parent was discussing at the time.

Dashboard flag

The call is flagged in your AvenoraCall dashboard with the alert level and full conversation summary for your records.

We are not 911

AvenoraCall does not contact emergency services on your behalf. When you receive an alert, it is your decision to call your parent, a neighbor, or 911 based on the situation.

We are not a medical device

AvenoraCall is not FDA-approved, not a diagnostic tool, and not a substitute for medical care. Our AI detects concerning language patterns — it does not diagnose conditions.

We are not a substitute for in-person care

A daily phone call cannot replace hands-on care for parents who need help with daily living activities. For parents with significant cognitive or physical impairment, in-person care is essential.

Detection is not perfect

AI language detection is powerful but not infallible. A parent might downplay symptoms, use unusual phrasing, or not mention something important. AvenoraCall is an additional safety layer — not the only one.

Emergency detection vs. medical alert pendants

Medical alert pendants (Life Alert, Bay Alarm Medical) require your parent to press a button during an emergency. Research shows many seniors do not press the button — they cannot reach it, they do not want to be a burden, or they freeze.
